Hosted events and leadership facilitation
Reinventing the Table
Reinventing the Table brings people together in rooms built to produce something, whether that is a real connection, a shared understanding, or a decision someone owns. Small hosted events in Seattle, and facilitation and operations leadership for mission-driven leadership teams.
Live events
Actually meet people
People go to events hoping to connect and usually leave having mostly stood around. Mine are hosted. There is a clear purpose, a few questions worked in rounds, and a couple of planned mixer moments. Light enough to relax, structured enough that people actually talk.Focus groups (8 to 10). Drinks, appetizers, and three questions worked in rounds. Honest perspectives on one topic.Small-group mixers (20 to 30). Dinner-party energy with rotating rounds, a new group each time, and prompts on the table.Hosted socials (40 to 80). Cocktails, a welcome, a couple of mixer moments, then dancing.Hosted at local venues, independently and with partners.
For leadership teams
Working sessions
Six executives circling one decision for an hour a week spend more than 300 hours a year not deciding. I talk with the people involved first, then run the room until the group lands a decision with an owner and a date. A written record follows within 48 hours, and the group reconvenes at 30 days so the decision stays in motion.
For leaders
Leadership dinners
Dinners with leaders from different organizations. A place to talk candidly about the hard parts of the job with people who understand them.
Who I work with
Mission-driven organizations
Organizations in civic and advocacy work, social enterprise, community and behavioral health, and philanthropy. Seattle and Puget Sound first. Remote anywhere.
When the director is the bottleneck
Operating reset
For organizations where every decision runs through the Executive Director. I set up a regular leadership meeting rhythm, put decision rights in writing, and connect the tools you already have into one system. No new software to buy. It's done when your team runs it without the director in the room.
Ongoing operations leadership
Operating partner
I run your operations so you can run your organization. That means managing the operations team, running goal-setting and reviews with leadership, and keeping the system working as you grow. It ends when your own people, or your first operations hire, take it over.
About
Revelry Buchanan (they/them)
I facilitate by getting to the core of what matters. Some nights that is ten people around a table with drinks and a few good questions. Some weeks it is a leadership team that has met about one decision for months and left every meeting where it started. Both rooms work for the same reason. People stop performing for each other and start talking, and someone walks out holding what happened there. What happens after the room is the other half of my work. I have run operations for organizations and advised executives on how theirs should run. How decisions get made, who owns what, how people stay accountable, and how a group holds together as it changes. Reinventing the Table puts both halves to work in Seattle and with mission-driven leadership teams across the country.
